Richmond, Texas
Where Texas history lives
George Ranch Historic Tour
9:00 am Arrive at the George Ranch Historical Park
Enjoy a tram-based tour of one of Texas’s oldest ranches. Founded in 1824 when Texas was still part of Mexico, the George Ranch was passed through four generations of one family. Cotton and cattle are still raised on this 23,000-acre working ranch, but nearly 500 acres have been set aside to tell the family’s history. Authentic and recreated homesteads and living history reenactments and demonstrations carry guests through more than a century of Texas living … from the challenges faced by the earliest settlers through the glory days of the great cattle drives to the modern life (circa 1930s) of working cowboys. Tues. – Sat. from 9 to 5. Fee: varies depending package, but begins at $8 per person. Options include self-guided or escorted tour and chuckwagon or barbecue lunches or dinners.
